Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Disney+'s much-anticipated adaptation of Rick Riordan's The Lightning Thief, continues to film in and around Vancouver, with the latest photos from the set teasing this adaptation of one of the most pivotal moments from the book.
There were a lot of fans who spotted Percy stars Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri at Simon Fraser University, which was transformed into the appearance of a museum for the show. It's likely this scene is the same one that takes place at the Gateway Arch where the lead trio battles an Echidna and Chimera if the series is following the book exactly.
If they tweak the adaptation a bit, one of the book's opening scenes takes place at a museum, although only Percy and Grover are present. As for the Disney+ series, it's said to adapt one book per season, but there is also a major museum battle in The Titan's Curse, the third book in the series." The meeting of everyone to align our visions for the show was extremely helpful, and I believe many of the misunderstandings were resolved. The good news is: the leadership is "all in" about making this show.
"Many of them have kids who have grown up with Percy Jackson, too, so they understand," Riordan said last year. "Percy Jackson fans all over the world are eagerly awaiting the new way he's coming to life. It feels as if we are being supported and heard, and I feel more confident than ever that this show is moving forward as it should. You have all made a difference. You always do. Showing up on social media and sharing your excitement is Disney seeing you, and they want to treat you right. For me, that's priority one, so I am thrilled!"
