In 2018, Aubrey auditioned for American Idol Season 16 and finished in the Top 70. A new stage awaits her this time, and with it new hopes and aspirations. It will only take time to see if she is able to win the title this time around. As Aubrey Burchell appeared on stage, the audience greeted her with applause. According to the 21-year-old singer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she sneaks into Target bathrooms to sing with her phone. In order to win GRAMMYs, the contestant aims to sell stadiums around the world.
Throughout the interview, she opened up about her recent diagnosis of autism level-one and her struggles. According to her, she wanted to be an inspiration to people who were going through similar experiences.
The judges and audience were moved to tears by Aubrey's rendition of The Weeknd's Call Out My Name. Her courage and sharing of her story were praised by the judges, with Sofia calling her "the whole package." The judge also believed she had a chance of winning.
Aubrey began singing as soon as she was born on January 6, 2001. Together, her father and she would write melodies together. Preschoolers were the singer's first audience. A number of local charity events have been performed since then. Since she was 15, she has also had a vocal coach. A contestant who finished in the Top 70 of American Idol spoke to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about her experience and said:
Performing live at venues in Western Pennsylvania became unfeasible in November 2020, a year after the pandemic hit. Working long hours at Target without being able to sing was mentally exhausting for the singer, who admitted that it was a tough time for her.
The contestant remained positive and continued to post singing videos on social media platforms. After losing one of her best friends in 2021, one of her videos caught the attention of producers who invited her to audition for America's Got Talent.
In addition to posting her singing videos on TikTok and gig announcements on Instagram, Aubrey has over 9K followers. She has released singles such as Fill The Void, Big White Room, Nothin On Me, Love Murder Misery, Memory, and Fate.
