About Barbie Ferreira

Ferreira started her modeling career by submitting photos to an American Apparel open casting call.  Ferreira's Aerie campaign's unposed photos and video interview went viral in 2016.

In the first season

Ferreira first appeared on Euphoria in season one as Kat, a plus-size high schooler seeking to feel empowered by her body in the technological age.

While Kat's journey of self-love was a highlight of the first season, her character arc in season two included lying about having a fatal disease to break up with her too nice bf Ethan (Austin Abrams)—was underwhelming.

She wrote on her Instagram story

"After four years of embodying the most special and mysterious personality Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye," she wrote on an Instagram Story that showcased fan art of her movie's cam-girl alter ego.

In February

There was also an unconfirmed DeuxMoi rumor that Ferreira and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson disagreed on Kat's season two plotline. However, a source close to production told E! that the rumors were false. In February, there was news.

Before signing off

I hope many more of you saw yourself in her as I did, and that her journey into the personality she is today managed to bring you joy." Before signing off, Ferreira said she put "all of her care and love" into her and wished fans "could feel it."

In March

Later, Ferreira denied rumors  of behind-the-scenes drama, telling ``Insider in March, "I've seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue and some of it is kind of like banal little things."

She continued

"Occasionally things take on a life of their own and aren't grounded in reality, but that's okay even though I know it's just out of passion, curiosity, and all that good stuff. And I registered for it.

Some fans, however, are unsurprised by Ferreira's departure from Euphoria. "Kat went from having the whole incident about her to 4 lines in euphoria 2 like a baby I knew something else was coming," one Twitter commenter posted. "Who is even astounded Barbie is leaving Euphoria," said another.

Season three already pledged significant changes in addition to Ferreira's departure. For example, Rue, played by Emmy winner Zendaya, hinted at a time jump in her final storytelling of season two.
