This weekend is the 2022 MTV VMAs, and E! News has all the information you need to know before the much-anticipated night, including which stars will take the stage and which will compete to win the iconic gold-plated moon person.

We should expect many shocks if the 2018 VMAs are like the last shows.

When do the 2022 MTV VMAs start, and when are they

 On August 28, 2022, i.e., Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, the 2022 MTV VMAs will air.

Where will the MTV VMAs take place in 2022

This year, the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will host the 2022 MTV VMAs again. Sebastian Maniscalco, a comedian, hosted the ceremony in the Garden State in 2019; nevertheless, the previous ceremony occurred at Brooklyn's Barclays Center in 2018.

Several stations, including MTV, VH1, Paramount Network, MTV2, BET, BET Her, CMT, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Logo, Pop, TV Land, and the CW, will broadcast the 2022 VMAs live at the same time.

The 2022 MTV VMAs will take a more original approach than prior years by having three hosts, including Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, and Jack Harlow.

Who is up for an MTV VMA in 2022

With eight nominations each, Harlow, Harry Styles, and Doja Cat share the lead for the 2022 MTV VMAs. At the same time, Billie Eilish was nominated in six categories.

Minaj will get a gold-plated moon person as part of the coveted 2022 VMA Video Vanguard Award, which is given to musicians in honor of their "outstanding contributions and significant impact on the music video and popular culture." Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Missy have previously received the honor.

Who will perform at the MTV VMAs in 2022

Lizzo, BLACKPINK, Mneskin, Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, Panic! at the Disco, and Kane Brown are just a few of the stars who will take the VMAs stage to deliver unforgettable performances.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers and honorees Nicki Minaj will perform on stage.
