Alaina announced to fans in April that she was leaving her record label after 11 years. She described it as a "tough decision," but that it was time to "open new chapters and close some important chapters." Her new label is Big Loud Records. The 27-year-old singer told Billboard of her new label, "I got one that matches my personality: big, loud, and country." Accordingly, that's what her music will sound like as well.
Even though she seems to have met with a few different companies, Big Loud is the "dream label" that she had always wanted to be on. She had previously collaborated with HARDY on a song for the label titled "One Beer," which also features Devin Dawson. Seth England, Big Loud's CEO and partner, stated that Alaina "has barely scratched the surface of what we can accomplish together." He added that he believes Lauren Alaina deserves to be recognized in the same light as Carrie Underwood, and it is our job to help her discover that path."
As an artist, Alaina has released three studio albums in the past before signing with Big Loud. Presented with Wildflower as her first single after finishing second behind Scotty McCreery on American Idol 2011, she has been crowned American Idol's second runner-up. Her second book, Road Less Traveled, came out in 2017. A new album by Alaina, Sitting Pretty on Top of the World, was released in 2021.
Earlier this year, Billboard reported that Alaina will release new music and England wants her to "get specific" with her lyrics. According to Alaina, she wants to rekindle her country roots. According to her, "I don't believe people remember me for how Southern I am." As far as American Idol is concerned, I am a country girl through and through.
