Kyle Richards met Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis at a charity luncheon in episode 11 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12. Even though such events are not uncommon in the Real Housewives universe, the RHOBH cast members were especially excited to be in Jamie Lee's presence. Nevertheless, none of them were as star-struck as Dorit Kemsley.
The two starred together in the 1978 film, Halloween, in which Kyle had a close relationship with Jamie Lee. Throughout the years, they have maintained a close relationship, and Kyle has acted in the most recent film from the franchise, Halloween Kills. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jamie Lee created the charity My Hand In Yours to provide comfort to those in need.
Jamie Lee brought some of the gifts to Kyle's luncheon to show the ladies, and all proceeds from My Hand In Yours go to Children's Hospital LA. As everyone sat down to eat, Dorit said, "We are just so happy to be with you.". As Jamie Lee revealed each piece of merchandise, Dorit's apparent affection for the star became further apparent.
The internet was flooded with memes and reactions to Dorit's choice of word for most of the items: "That is the chicest wind chime I have ever seen." Many contexts have used clips from RuPaul's Drag Race over the years.
This clip from season three of Delta Work was used by Twitter user BIBLEGIRL222 to reference Dorit's communication with Jamie Lee on RHOBH. There was a lot of talk about Dorit's excitement over Jamie Lee's show and tell. A Twitter user named realangel_dorit compared the exchange to one from Saturday Night Live, an NBC sketch and comedy show.
It is no secret that SNL isn't afraid to parody and go over the top. Some viewers felt the entire scene was more like a comedy skit than any aspect of The Real Housewives. Kyle's reaction indicated that she had not anticipated Dorit's enthusiastic response to Jamie Lee.
Other people felt that Dorit was taking advantage of an opportunity by recognizing it and taking advantage of it. According to a Twitter user, Lowell ash, Dorit's overly impressed response was part of her plan to flex her acting skills in front of a Hollywood legend.
In contrast, another user ohchadwick did not blame Dorit for her fangirling: "I am not even going to belittle Dorit for giving Jamie Lee Curtis props," they wrote, which they then added, "I probably would have done the same."
