There are some signs that Karen Huger and Gizelle Bryant of The Real Housewives of Potomac could change their dysfunctional friendship, to put it mildly. Their constant teasing has been entertaining to viewers throughout the show. In some cases, this is funny and silly. Other times, it cuts a little deeper. However, there have always been subtle indications that they might find a way to form a lasting friendship.
There was an existing dynamic between Karen and Gizelle that Karen seemed more aware of than Gizelle was. In season 1, Karen expressed a sense of responsibility toward Gizelle, saying, "if she doesn't know any better, I will teach her." So it seemed from the start that Karen appreciated the relationship more than Gizelle.
Additionally, the two women have known each other for a longer period of time than most of the other cast members, so there is a great deal of history between them. Furthermore, both of them have stated that they were closer before RHOP started, so the show may have played a role in how things have turned out between them.
While Karen and Gizelle have had their share of tension and little blow-ups, there have also been signs of the strong bond that first brought them together. They are often arguing over petty things, which makes them popular with fans. The rare moments when glimmers of hope do appear are equally enjoyable to witness.
Giving Karen a lesson
When Ashley Darby and Gizelle were returning from a dinner in season 6, they taught Karen some intimate language in the back of a van. In this rare moment, Karen was relaxed and enjoying herself alongside Gizelle to the delight of the fans. When Ashley and Gizelle tried to describe tea-bagging to Karen, they encountered much comedy.
Gizelle tears up at the reunion
Following a relatively drama-free season, it was evident, at the season 6 reunion, that Gizelle and Karen had begun to realize the potential of their friendship. Gizelle became emotional when Andy mentioned how fun it had been to watch them get along.
During her visit to Karen's home, she described how respectfully Karen treated her children. Therefore, Karen became emotional and it was perhaps the biggest glimmer of hope for the couple. This positive energy will certainly be carried forward into the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, and viewers will be curious to see if it does last.
Mime at a drinks
Over drinks in season 3, Karen and Gizelle discussed recent dramas between them, and things got heated. As Karen began to present her side of the argument, a mime appeared, sent by Monique Samuels to present the women with an invitation to Cannes, France.
The mime, though intended to resolve a dispute, caused Karen and Gizelle to bond over their bizarre situation, in spite of the fact that this meeting was intended to have out a dispute. In spite of the serious nature of the conversation, Gizelle burst into laughter.
