Jinkx Monsoon described being crowned Queen of All Queens at RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 7's finale as "surreal." Monsoon first appeared in season 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race, winning fans' hearts and ultimately the crown. As a result of her All-Stars victory, Jinkx became the first Drag Race contestant to win two seasons in a row. It made headlines when it announced that the seventh season would feature only previous winners, and it launched many of the series' previous winners back into the spotlight.
A few notable winners were Jaida Essence Hall of season 12, Trinity The Tuck of season 4, Monét X Change of season 4, Yvie Oddly of season 11, Shea Couleé of season 5, Raja of season 3, and Jinkx of season 5. Upon winning All-Stars season 7, Jinkx Monsoon won the Queen of Queens title, $200,000, and a year's supply of cosmetics. Upon reflecting on her All-Stars experience, Jinkx described it as "surreal," adding that "the news does not yet live in my body.". My brain is still processing it. In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, he said: "It's a wonderful surrealness."
The RuPaul's Drag Race star and actress spoke about what the win meant to her, saying, “For me, it's a testament to how people can achieve when they take care of themselves as human beings, and of course, I'm not only talking about mental health but also just knowing what you want to accomplish and how to advocate for yourself too do so..” Jinkx described herself as an "extremely superstitious person," adding, "Anytime anyone said something to me, whether it was at a meet and greet or on the street, I ran for the nearest piece of wood to knock on it and unjinx things.”
Jinkx, a fan favorite from the start of All-Stars season 7, praised the spirit of encouragement among the contestants. "I think the season as a whole is a testament to the wonderful work that can be done when people support and uplift one another," she said. Throughout Drag Race season 5, Jinkx was repeatedly targeted by other contestants for her comedy prowess and classic style. Amid a cutthroat competition, Jinkx appreciated the congenial nature of All-Stars season 7.
She is an award-winning actress, documentary film star, drag queen, and musician who won the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race. After just wrapping up an Australia tour, maybe Jinkx can now relax and let this win sink in -- along with the cash winnings, makeup prize, and four Legendary Legends stars the winning contestant received.
Indeed, Jinkx doesn't want to plan too far ahead in terms of her future goals, but she certainly has the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to accomplish whatever she wants.
