Harley Quinn has to be one of DC's most underrated shows, and HBO Max's version is one of the best. The show may seem odd at first, but it ends up being one of the most delightful shows I've ever seen.
There is a fresh spin on Harley Quinn's character and relationships in the series, even though she has been overrepresented in the media. It's also funny, which isn't something most people associate with DC shows. In any case, the show is a lot of fun.
Harley Quinn still gained a following even though the first two seasons were on the now-defunct DC Universe. It can reach even more fans now that it is an HBO Max original, including the most recent season, Season 3. The first three episodes of Harley Quinn Season 3 have been dropped: “Harley”, “There’s No Ivy in Team”, and “The 83rd Annual Villy Awards.”
Third on the list is the first episode of Season 3, "Harley." This episode is centered around Harley and Ivy's relationship. I must admit, however, that the episode is pretty boring. Even though it's a nice introduction back to the series, it doesn't feel like a season opener. This episode seems to be more of a filler.
"Harley" wasn't a bad episode, but it wasn't the best way to start the season. However, the episode still had its moments, including Harley and Ivy's differences. As well as Amanda Waller and Plastique, there are cameos from other DC characters. In addition, we also see James Gunn, but overall, it wasn't the best.
The second episode of the series, "There's No Ivy in Team" feels more like a season opener than anything else. In this episode, Ivy is the focus as she tries to be a leader but fails. A group of villains and heroes escaping from an escape room saves the episode by including the Bat Family including Nightwing.
This episode shows a different side of Ivy that I enjoyed. No matter how you slice it, this episode isn't the most memorable. Nonetheless, I know I'll rewatch it in the future since it's just so entertaining. So it is that "The 83rd Annual Villy Awards" is coming in the first place, and what an episode it was. This episode follows Ivy and Harley as they're nominated for "Best Couple", and it's essentially Harley becoming obsessed with winning while Ivy is trying not to be anxious with Kite Man lurking around.
Despite that, the episode does a good job of making Harley and Ivy uncomfortable while teaching them about themselves at the same time. As a character-driven show, "The 83rd Annual Villy Awards" focuses a lot on Harley and Ivy individually. Action and humor are also prominent in the episode. The fact that this is the third episode of the series proves that it's improving as it goes, so hopefully, that'll translate into episode 4.
