Despite being based on a short story published in 2020 and produced by Emma Roberts, the queer vampire series has been staked through the heart because of its lovelorn characters. As a teen vampire, it is never easy to get by, and now it has just gotten a whole lot more difficult. Netflix has canceled the first season of First Kill after its first season aired, EW has learned.

The short story of the same name is based on a novella written by best-selling New York Times author Victoria "V. E." Schwab that was published in 2020. First Kill is Romeo and Juliet with teeth. Due to Juliette's heritage as a vampire, she is destined to kill her first victim and take her place as a member of her family. It was not long before he met Calliope, the new girl in town, and the two started to fall in love with each other. Is there a problem here? Calliope stands as the heir to a family that has a destiny all its own, and it happens to be a family that hunts monsters for a living.

Both of the young women will be put to the test as they prepare for their first kills and their love will be put to the test as well. Despite fate working against them - and even their parents forbidding them to be together - Juliette and Calliope will have to decide for themselves what kind of life they want for themselves. As far as renewals and cancellations are concerned, Netlfix always looks at viewing versus cost.

Despite First Kill making the list of the top 10, it is a list that ranks popularity at a point in time without taking into consideration viewing completion or viewing versus cost at the time. There are a variety of actors involved in the drama series First Kill, which premiered in June, including Elizabeth Mitchell, Will Swenson, Aubion Wise, Jason Robert Moore, Gracie Dzienny, Dylan McNamara, Dominic Goodman, Philipp Mullings Jr., MK XYZ, Jonas Dylan Allen, and Roberto Mendez. As executive producers, Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss were also involved in the production.
