It seems that fans are taking a trip down memory lane by listening to the new Laguna Beach and The Hills podcasts, but they wish that the latter was a thing of the past.
Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti announced in early May that they would host a Laguna Beach rewatch podcast called Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen.
As well as some of the other drama that occurred on MTV's reality show, fans were excited to see the high school exes revisit their past relationship. There have been three episodes since the podcast premiered on July 19.
The trailer for Audrina Partridge, Brody Jenner, and Frankie Delgado's podcast, Was It Real? was released in late June. As a result of Spencer Pratt's involvement with The Hills, fans were aware of the podcast.
His friend Brody signed up for a podcast that he was not asked to host, and the reality icon was very upset. The Spills is Spencer's series on TikTok, where he lets fans in on the behind-the-scenes secrets of the reality show.
Since then, he has gone on hiatus, as he does not want to give the Was It Real? Any content they produce for their show is hosted by them.
In contrast to Laguna Beach, rewatch podcasts seem to be more successful than their predecessors. Fans of The Hills podcast found the podcast 'chaotic,' according to some podcast reviews shared by NoExamination4048 on Reddit.
The Redditor thinks it 'pales in comparison to a certain other rewatch podcast that has started simultaneously.' Fans love Kristin and Stephen's podcast, which is referenced in the review.
Fans responded to the Reddit thread by accusing Audrina, Brody, and Frankie of doing the podcast only for a quick money grab. They also believe it's obvious that the hosts aren't rewatching the episodes, and barely mention them in the shows.
In contrast, fans are enjoying Kristin and Stephen's connection and have few complaints about the Laguna Beach podcast. Reddit user blue-eyed-floozy wrote, 'Kristin and Stephen have such great chemistry.
Another Laguna Beach fan praised the star's hosting skills, saying, 'they give real deal insights and BTS stories that help explain how the show was soo overproduced.' However, one fan expressed a preference for Was It Real. However, others outweighed the fan's opinion, who said that The Hills podcast 'was all over the place.
While Stephen and Kristin's bond contributes a lot to the show, fans are turning away from Audrina, Brody, and Frankie due to their ambivalent relationships.
Even though The Hills far surpassed Laguna Beach in terms of success, when it comes to podcasts, it's the 2004 series that takes the cake. The Hill's friendships have always been pretty blurry, but Stephen and Kristin were a real high school couple.
The two stars of the show were clueless teens trying to navigate high school, and all the jealousy and complications that come with being a teenager in love, even though the show was just as manipulated by producers.
They aren't fooling any listeners by claiming they care about The Hills, as they did in their reboot, The Hills: New Beginnings. Was It Real? the winner is Laguna Beach. Keeping up with the competition will require hosts to think outside the box. It would be great if Lauren Conrad made a cameo appearance.
