A new song from American Idol Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe, "Peace of Mind," has a different feel than her previous track, "One That Got Away." Still, the soulful track shows off her voice. With drums and guitar backing, "Peace of Mind" is a quiet, understated ballad.
She sings about running away from previous relationships but feels differently about this one as she shows off the vulnerable side of her voice.“Maddie sings on the track, “It won’t end with someone saying, ‘It’s not you, it’s me,’ and that’s why I’m letting down my guard so easy, letting you in and letting you see me in ways that I never knew I could do ‘Cause when it comes to you, I'm at peace.”
She shared on Instagram that she co-wrote the song with Andy Skib and Thomas Finchum. "Hope you enjoy it as much as we do." The cover art shows Maddie sitting on a sofa and smiling. The American Idol Season 20 contestants Leah Marlene and Fritz Hager are performing at some of Maddie's tour stops.
Last month, Leah joined her for a concert in Evanston, Illinois. In Normal, Maddie and Fritz will join Leah for a hometown concert on August 27. Fritz will also appear with Maddie at several shows later this month, including Salt Lake City on August 22, Seattle on August 24, Portland on August 25, and Los Angeles on August 31.
Tickets can be purchased on Maddie's website. She appeared on American Idol with her boyfriend and Season 16 runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson earlier this year. As part of the show's 20th-anniversary reunion special, they sang "Islands in the Stream.".
