Lifetime's new dating show, Five Guys a Week, will premiere Thursday, Aug. 18, at 9 p.m., featuring Staten Islander Samantha Jean Mitchell.As part of the show, a "leading lady" selects five eligible bachelors to stay with her for a week in the hopes of finding true love.As Mitchell's suitors, the show's participants range in age from 40 to late 60 - the show has a wide range of women and men from early 20s to late 60s.The 53-year-old Mitchell is said to be extremely energetic — and ready for love again after getting her heart crushed in her last relationship.While she tends to date bad boys, she's determined to stop falling into that pattern, so she invited five prospects to live at her beach house for a week.

The characters include Al, an unmarried Manhattan attorney, North, a clean-energy activist who collects pajamas, Barry, a 68-year-old Tinder addict, Andrew, a widow with great hair, and Brian, a single dad.The actress said she cast for her role on "5 Guys a Week" online through producers of Lifetime at a time when COVID-19 restrictions were still in effect. "The casting phone call came in August of 2021," she explained.Every episode of the show follows a new leading woman as she dates five men over the week, beginning on Wednesday, July 13.As the guys vie for Samantha Jean's attention, dating chaos unfolds - crowded bathrooms, cooking and sharing meals, and of course a cocktail hour.Since 2005, Mitchell has participated in casting calls and landed acting roles. In 2013, she starred in another reality show, "Extreme Moms." She owns Samantha Lawrence, a salon in Pleasant Plains.
