Despite my predictions last week, the Jamaica night dinner cliffhanger turned out to be overdramatized. Although Kenya insists that Ross was overly aggressive, he leaves the table and walks with Sanya. He says he couldn't help but protect his wife in this circumstance. My blindness led me to watch him fight for his woman, but as an objective Housewives commentator, I find it obnoxious and unnecessary that men jump into women's arguments. Househusbands shouldn't insert themselves into drama like PK, Peter, or Ken Todd. A husband or wife shouldn't intervene when the wives are doing their job. What do they think their spouses agreed to?
As Sanya and Ross leave, Kenya continues to harp on not being invited to the iFit video shoot. From Kenya and Shereé's perspective, Sanya should have ensured their transportation to the shoot as her guests. A miscommunication has led to an attack on Sanya's hosting duties, even though she was clear about the bus' departure time. Even though Kenya admits that Sanya informed the group when to be ready, it's unclear why she still considers the van leaving without her as a personal slight when her attempt to leave for the shoot is evident in the production footage.
Kenya goes to the point of saying it's suspect that Marlo was able to attend the iFit shoot, not connecting the dots that maybe Marlo simply showed up at the time she was supposed to. Having Sanya intentionally exclude Shereé and Kenya, or babysit grown women to make sure they get their asses on a van at the right time, is more of a testament to Kenya's ego than Sanya's. Sanya's inflated ego is criticized by Kenya the next day.
As a defense, only Kandi claims Sanya was misunderstood. In addition to that, Kenya isn't the hostess with the mostest herself: we all remember the unhinged Bolo trip to South Carolina where she invited everyone to stay together, made them ride a sprinter while she flew private, and fed them daily. However, Kenya and Drew use it to show their contempt for Sanya. In the meantime, Sanya believes Shereé has abandoned her friendship with Kenya, disregarding their budding friendship. Sounds like what Sanya did to Drew earlier in the season to him. As a new Housewive who is eager to engage in as many storylines as possible, Sanya has made all sorts of misaligned alliances.
As Drew's new friend, she forms what she perceives as a Three Muskateers situation with Shereé and Marlo by buddying up with Kenya and Kandi. She's already placed herself in a vulnerable position by doing so, alienating herself from the party that feels unsupported when tension inevitably erupts.
Across the country, Erika claimed Garcelle's friendship with Sutton was detrimental to her popularity in RHOBH. That's bullshit, but it's not my place to talk about that. While Marlo Hampton is a liability, Sanya and Marlo's relationship somehow continues to grow despite Marlo acting out repeatedly while Sanya was present. Next time, tag me in Sanya; I've got my notes ready. I fully understand Sanya's side, but the inability to hold her own and provide concrete examples embarrassed me.
After another tense day of Marlo attempting to brush things under the rug with Kandi, Marlo and Kandi continued their unfinished business at the black, green, and gold dinner. Floating down the river in a bamboo raft, Kandi used her time to make business calls. I would have done the same if I hadn't missed a meal or bag.
As Marlo escapes the shit-splattered lunch, she confides in Monyetta and Shereé while Kandi, Todd, and Kenya keep apart. Monyetta tells her she stands by Ralph's decision not to adopt Josiah, but regrets getting angry when Kandi brought up the issue. As her excuse for not opening up, she blames people questioning her unusual decision to throw out her nephews, completely disregarding her tendency to be cruel toward others. Sanya returns from work and joins the group for bamboo rafting, bringing an end to her hosting duties.
Drew is recovering from her injury and is at the hotel with Ralph and can't get ready in time for dinner. Everyone else chooses outfits based on the Jamaican flag. Kandi and Marlo match in ruffled tops, but their camaraderie ends. Shereé urges Marlo to end her fight with Kandi at the table, setting off another battle. As Kandi says, "fuck Michelle Obama's advice; if anyone goes low, she's going lower," the women agree to continue supporting each other from afar. Honestly, I'd like to see Kandi go even lower. Let's forget about their truce and get it shaking for the reunion. After that, I'm going to get a fried chicken sandwich and close my computer. I'll see you all next week for more shenanigans.
