TV Show - Aug 29, 2022
American Idol's sixth season on ABC and 21st season overall will feature judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and host Ryan Seacrest. It is scheduled to return in spring 2023.
A successful revival of the beloved Fox show in 2018 was hosted by Seacrest, who led the original show from 2002 to 2018. Perry, Bryan, and Richie have all been judges since the ABC revival, and Richie served as a host since the original show's start.
As a part of American Idol's sixth season auditions, the show will return to its virtual audition tour, dubbed 'Idol Across America,' on August 3. Voters will have the chance to showcase their talents to an American Idol producer to advance to the judge auditions.
A part of Sony Pictures Television, American Idol is produced by Fremantle and 19 Entertainment. As executive producers, Megan Wolflick is also showrunner along with Jennifer Mullin from Fremantle, and Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman serving as 19 Entertainment executives. A worldwide distribution deal is in place with Fremantle.
