There has been a renewal for Mayans M.C for a fifth season at FX, the network announced Sunday. At the end of Comic-Con, just minutes before the cast began their panel, news of the show broke. 'Sons of Anarchy' spinoff Mayans M.C. revolves around the titular motorcycle club introduced as SAMCRO's rivals.

James also signed a new multi-year deal with Disney Television Studios' 20th Television, who co-created Mayans with Kurt Sutter. FX Entertainment Original Programming President Nick Grad said in a statement that the Mayans had fought for respect, territory, and power over four intense seasons.

This fifth season will test their very survival under EZ's new leadership, TVLine reported. The creative team of Elgin James, the talent of the cast, crew, and our partnership with 20th Television has consistently kept fans returning for more, and we are excited to continue the journey with them.

Throughout his statement, James referred to Disney Television president Dana Walden, 20th Television president Karey Burke, and Fox 21 president Jane Francis as "family" who championed and supported him.

James expressed his gratitude to the 20th team and all its members. Throughout the series, every member of the Mayan family, from the head of the call sheet to the set PAs, has worked hard to make Mayans something special. I can't wait to see what we can create together in future seasons.

JD Pardo stars in Mayans M.C. as Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes, who begins as a prospect for Mayans M.C. and gradually rises to prominence. Sarah Bolger portrays EZ's former childhood sweetheart Emily Galindo. Clayton Cardenas plays Angel Reyes, EZ's older brother.

Among the other actors are Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Richard Cabral, Raoul Max Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo, Danny Pino, Edward James Olmos, Salem Calderon, Frankie Lotal, Joseph Raymond, and Vincent "Rocco" Vargas. It is pleased to announce that Emilio Rivera is returning to his SOA role as Marcus Alvarez.

EZ overthrew Alvarez at the end of Season 4, becoming the new president of Mayans M.C. He also began to work with drug queenpin Soledad, whose heroin supply had recently been destroyed. Jay-Jay and Manny were also killed in the finale. Kim Coates also appeared in the fourth season as his SOA character Alexander "Tig" Trager.
